Haigh Hall Road Relay’s Report

Saturday 15^th March

After a few last minute changes to the team’s we managed to field a Senior Men’s, Vet’s Men, Ladies and a mixed team. After doing a warm up around the course we found out the course was going to be a fast start but there was a nasty climb at around the 2-mile mark. On leg one was Gary Shaw, Barry Brock (vet’s) Anna Kelly and Paul Archer for the mixed team. Gary and Barry had a little battle and Gary finished in 21.10 with Barry just behind in 21.23. Paul ran a cautious leg due to his lack of fitness but done well with a time of 23.20. Anna ran well to finish with a good time of 26.01.

On leg 2 for the men’s were Alex Cran, Kevin Davies (vets), Tracy Mitchell for the girls and Michael O Donnell for the mixed team. Kevin ran a good leg to catch Alex and finish with a time of 22.44 with Alex finishing in 23.40.Tracy done a well with her time of 25.45 to keep the ladies in 2^nd place. Michael ran a good leg with 23.40 to keep the mixed team in 1^st place.

Leg 3 saw Sean Clare have a brilliant leg for the vets and finished strongly with a time of 23.04, Kieron Mitchell had a steady leg with a time of 23.14. With the ladies Debbie Wilson had a strong leg for the ladies and finished with a good time of 26.06 to keep the ladies in 2^nd place. Barbara Savage ran a very good leg for the mixed team to finish with a good time of 28.05 to stay in first place.

The final leg saw Paul Targett hold off a young Jamie Baldwin to bring the vets home in 9^th place with a time of 22.40, Jamie finished with a time of 22.13 to finish only 26 sec’s behind the vets. Irene Roche finished in 28.32 to bring the ladies home in 2^nd place. Victoria Pratt finished in 29.35 to bring the mixed team home 1^st.

Well done to everyone who took part, I’m sure you will all agree we had a good day out and put Clayton back on the map for road running.
